Parliament Hill Fields in Hampstead Heath, London hosted the thirty-sixth Youth's English Senior Cross-Country Championships sponsored by Provincial Insurance Company Limited.
Some runners started before the gun sounded but the field was not recalled. Jon Richards (Duchy of Cornwall AC) was one of the first to show and at the end of the first lap Richards was 40 metres clear of Mark Dalloway (Stourport AC). Richards increased his lead on the second lap to win by 250 metres from Dalloway with M Wheeler (East Grinstead & District AC) third.
Team honours went to Wirral AC as they beat Basildon AAC by 22 points with Leeds City AC third.
