Western Park, Leicester on Saturday 15/02/1986 (Girls)

The Girl's National Cross-Country Championships were held at Western Park, Leicester. The event was sponsored by Provincial Insurance Limited. The course was 3km and consisted of one large lap.

After the first kilometre a quartet consisting of Sue Byrom (Sale Harriers), Joanne Colleran (Liverpool Harriers), Claire Nicholson (Darlington Harriers) and Michelle Wilkinson (Manchester & District Harriers) led the way. Wilkinson and Byrom led by 10 metres after the second kilometre. Wilkinson went on to win by three seconds from Nicholson with Byrom third.

Michelle Wilkinson with assistance from her twin Lynne (4th) led Manchester & District Harriers to team honours with a twenty point victory over Liverpool Harriers with Sale Harriers third.
