The Junior Girl's National Cross-Country Championships sponsored by Provincial Insurance Limited took place at Arrowe Park, Birkenhead. Wirral Athletic Club assisted with the hosting of the event. A shuttle service of buses conveyed competitors from Woodchurch Leisure Centre, the event headquarters, to and from the park.
Angie Foster (Morpeth Harriers) led from gun to tape and finished seven seconds ahead of Sharon Murphy (Shaftesbury Barnet Harriers). Julie Mackay, an individual entry, took third spot.

Team honours went to GEC Avionics as they beat Bedford & County AC by 11 points with Cannock & Stafford AC third.
