Mitcham Common hosted the third Junior Women's National Cross-Country Championship. The course was 2½ miles and the race had been rearranged due to the original fixture having to be postponed a fortnight before due to fog.
85 runners took part and Miss J. Taylor (Epsom Harriers) won the individual title, beating Miss C. Plant (London Olympiades AC) by 21 secs. in 17 min. 45sec. Miss P. McConachie (Civil Service WAC) being third in 18min. 11sec.

Team honours went to Civil Service WAC with 36 points; second Sheffield United Harriers 73 points; and third Portsmouth Olympiades 94 points. Civil Service WAC had 4 in the first twenty-three and were led home by individual bronze medalist Miss P. McConachie.
