The ninth Junior Women's National Cross-Country Championship took place at Hillmorton, Rugby. The course was two miles and consisted of two laps. At the end of the first lap, Pat Sandall (Birchfield Harriers) shared the lead with clubmate J. Forman with A. B. Bursey (Walsall AC) and M. Webb (Cheltenham St Gregory's AC) close up. There was a keen fight up the hill in the last lap, between Pat Sandall and M. Webb with Webb faltering about 50 yards from the finish to be beaten into second place by Miss Pat Sandall, the Birchfield girl putting in a grand finish to cross the line 20 yards ahead of her rival. Third place went to A. B. Bursey.
