The tenth Junior Women's National Cross-Country Championship took place at Epsom. The course was 2½ miles of open common land, but the going was rather rough owing to a severe frost. The race was only open to individuals.
28 competitors faced the starter, Miss Chitton, (Cheltenham St. Gregory's A.C.), ran second for most of the distance, but had to drop back to fifth place through injury to the ankle. 19-year-old Ruby Wright (Cheltenham St. Gregory's A.C.) won the race by the convincing margin of 300 yards from H Gilbert (Birmingham Atalanta A.C.) There was no team race.
