The third Youth's National Cross-Country Championship race took place over 3 miles in Graves Park, Sheffield. The runners changed at RAF Norton Aerodrome about a mile from the course and were ferried in by bus for the start of the race, being summoned to the transportation by a bugle.
At the halfway point P T Blakiston (City of Rochester AC) challenged Walter Hesketh (Manchester AC) for the lead. Walter Hesketh ran out the winner in 16:45. Hesketh was well clear of runner-up J C Green (Reading AC) who caught P T Blakiston (third) over the last quarter-mile.
