The fourteenth Junior Women's National Cross-Country Championship took place at Birmetals Sports Ground, Woodgate, Birmingham over a course of 2¼ miles.

16-year-old Avery Gibson (North Shields Polytechnic AC) held herself well in hand until the last lap was reached. Then she went to the front, and it was all over. She finished well ahead of two Southern entrants, Joan Dryden (Ilford A.C.) and Chris Slemon (Selsonia LAC).

There was a new name on the team trophy as Harborne Harriers beat Birchfield Harriers by eight points with Selsonia Ladies AC third.
