The fifth Youth's English National Cross-Country Championships took place at the Hazell, Watson & Vinney Sports Ground in Aylesbury, Bucks.
Soon after the start at a narrow bridge bordered by a hedge there was an awkward challenge, the runners had to negotiate barbed wire, some runners were injured in the process. Northern champion Ivor Williams (Salford Harriers) was soon out in front, and Williams went on to win in 15:54. A King (Bingley Harriers) finished very quickly to overhaul P James (Bournemouth AC) right on the finish line.
