
The fourteenth Junior English Cross-Country Championships took place at Parliament Hill Fields, London. The two-lap course was six miles in length.
Northern champion John Hillen (Saltwell Harriers) led for most of the race but Colin Robinson (Rochdale Harriers) overtook Hillen in the last mile to win by 60 yards. Alan Simpson (Rotherham Harriers) working his way through the field in the latter part of the race to secure third place.
