Stanley Park on Saturday 10/03/1962 3 Miles (Youths)

The seventeenth Youth's English Cross-Country Championship took place at Stanley Park, Blackpool. The one lap course was three miles in length.

John Simmons (Derby & County AC) led the field from Midland champion John Hammond (Coventry Godiva Harriers). Hammond closed at the finish but Simmons held on to win by 30 yards. Tony Booth (Longwood Harriers) was third with Northern champion Walter Wilkinson (Rowntrees AC) fourth.

Good packing from Birchfield Harriers enabled them to win the team event, Birchfield had four in 26 giving them a total of 71 points which was 22 clear of midland rivals Coventry Godiva Harriers. Sale Harriers picked up the bronze medals.
