The twenty-eighth Junior Women's National Cross-Country Championship took place at Richmond Park, Kingston, London. Sue Tulloh (London Olympiades AC) and Mary Hodson (Bury & Radcliffe AC) set the early pace in the race.
With a mile left of the race to run Sue Tulloh had a slight lead but in the last half mile Mary Hodson forged ahead, going on to win by fifty yards in 14:16. Sue Tulloh held off a challenge from Penny Gardner (Chelmsford AC) to take silver by 2 seconds.
