Western Park on Saturday 29/02/1964 6 Miles (Youths)

Western Park in Leicester hosted the nineteenth Youth's English Cross-Country Championships. Changing accommodation was in New Parks Boys and Girls Schools and the Lord Mayor of Leicester, Constance Jackson started the runners off on their 3-mile journey.

Mike Tagg (Norfolk Gazelles) and holder Philip Romaine (Spalding & District AC) chased David Atkin (Airedale Harriers) for much of the race but Atkin held on for the win. Romaine finished second but Tagg faded to finish 32nd. The bronze medal went to Roy Young (Hornchurch Harriers).

Sale Harriers eclipsed Mitcham AC by three points in a closely fought team race, third place went to Norfolk Gazelles.
