The twenty-ninth Junior Women's National Cross-Country Championship took place at Witton Park, Blackburn in Lancashire. The grassland course was two laps and predominantly flat and contained only one significant hill. Rita Lincoln (Essex Ladies AC) took an early lead and was chased by her twin sister Iris Lincoln (also Essex Ladies AC). At the start of the second lap Margaret Moir (Wigmore Harriers) overtook Iris and Jane Perry (Wirral AC) moved up the field. Rita Lincoln won the race in 15:58 having led from start to finish. Second place went to Margaret Moir with Jane Perry in third.
