The first girls (Under 15) National Cross-Country Championships took place at Oxhey Playing Fields, Watford, Hertfordshire.


Maragret MacSherry (Cambridge Harriers) won the individual title by eight seconds from Sandra Kirk (Wigan & District Harriers) with Phyllis Lowis (Bury & Radcliffe AC) third.


MacSherry made it a double gold as she led her club to victory in the team race. Runner up were Rochdale Harriers with Bury & Radcliffe AC third.
