Smestow School, Wolverhampton on Saturday 27/02/1971 (Intermediates)

The Intermediate Women's National Cross-Country Championships took place at Smestow School, Castlecroft, Wolverhampton. There was a record entry for the event with 287 registered in the intermediate race. Mary Stewart (Birchfield Harriers) won the race in 14:30 turning the tables on her Midland conqueror, Pamela Davis (Tipton Harriers) who was second with Julie van Cuylenburg (Croydon Harriers) third.

Team honours went to Stretford AC despite their fourth runner being in 61st place. Stretford edged Birchfield Harriers by 18 points with Longwood Harriers in third. Counters for Stretford AC were Christine Helsby (6th), D Heathcote (12th), J Poyner (17th) and G Baldwin (61st).
