The Junior Girl's National Cross-Country Championships were held at the Marl Pits Stadium, Rawtenstall in Lancashire. Rossendale AC marked out the course and the route was described as tough and contained several steep hills.
Defending champion Helen Hill (Cannock & Stafford AC) went straight into the lead and opened up a 25 metre lead after half a mile, Hill maintained this lead until the conclusion of the race to keep the individual title. Jill Williamson (Sale Harriers) was the fastest of the chasing group for silver with P Kemp (City of Stoke) third.
