The Junior Girl's National Cross-Country Championships were held at Parliament Hill Fields, Hampstead Heath, London. The course consisted of a single loop making it difficult for spectators to see the runners.
Southern champion Toni Lattimore (Harlow AC) led at the top of Kite Hill, and subseqently shared the lead with Christine Brace (Enfield) AC. Lattimore slipped to third as Brace and Fiona Oldershaw (Derby and County AC) went ahead, however Lattimore battled back over the last half mile to take gold, second was Oldershaw with Brace third.
