The Girl's National Cross-Country Championships were held at Parliament Hill Fields, Hampstead Heath, London. The course consisted of a single loop making it difficult for spectators to see the runners.
Northern champion Pauline Clark (Sale Harriers), who led for much of the race, had to resist the challenge of Ann Pattinson (City of Stoke-on-Trent AC) in the finishing straight. Third place went to Deborah Watson of (Derby & County AC).
