The twenty-ninth Junior Men's English Cross-Country Championships took place at Western Park, Leicester and was sponsored by Provincial Insurance Co Ltd.
Nat Muir (Shettleston Harriers) won the race in 30 minutes 40 seconds. Second was Mickey Morris (Cwmbran Olympiades AC) in 30 minutes 45 seconds, and third was Nicky Lees (Derby & County AC) in 30 minutes 51 seconds. Karl Harrison (Stretford AC) was fourth. Mickey Morris was subsequently disqualified for wearing his Welsh vest instead of his club vest.
