Hughenden Park, High Wycombe on Saturday 25/02/1978 (Junior Girls)

The Junior Girl's National Cross-Country Championship was held at Hughenden Park, High Wycombe. The 25-hectare park had the Hughenden stream running through the length of the park and bordered with Hughenden Manor owned by the National Trust. A record number of entries had been received for the championships. The course was 3480 metres in length.

Karen Timson (Thurrock Harriers) led for most of the race and went on to win by 5 seconds from Julie Clarke (Verlea AC), with Susan Walker (Sale Harriers) in third.

Walker's club won the team race by 20 points from Blackburn Harriers with bronze medals going to Cannock Chase AC.
