
Stopsley Sports Centre in Luton hosted the thirty-fourth Youth's English National Cross-Country Race. The course consisted of one small lap and one large lap making a total of 4 miles and included park land and plough. Temperatures were warm for the time of year but there was some wind.
Northern champion David Lewis (Rossendale AC) took the lead during the second mile of the race and continued to build his lead winning by 100 metres from Michael Rolfe (Essex Beagles). Midland champion Paul Davies-Hale (Cannock Chase AC) was third with southern champion Eddie Herridge (Aldershot, Farnham & District AC) fourth.
