The playing fields of Hagley Park School in Rugeley, Staffordshire were hosts to the Junior Girl's National Cross-Country Championships. Local club Cannock Chase AC helped facilitate the event that had attracted over 2500 entries. The race was sponsored by ICL.
Elise Lyon (Wycombe Phoenix Harriers) and Karen Hughes (Thurrock Harriers) shared the early pace, Lyon eventually triumphed by 6 seconds from Diane Robson (Morpeth Harriers) with Hughes in third.
Northern champions Manchester Harriers were a single point ahead of Aldershot, Farnham & District AC to take team honours with Basingstoke AC third.
