TheJunior Girl's National Cross-Country Championships were held at Western Park, Leicester. The event was sponsored by Provincial Insurance Limited. The course was 3.5km and consisted of one small and one large lap.
Lucy Field (Halesowen A & CC) took the initiative with half a mile to go and the pack was unable to stay with her, runners-up spot went to Melanie Wilkes (Leicester Coritanian AC) and Julie Adkin grabbed a bronze medal.

Sharon Davies - 690 (Sutton St. Helens) leads the Juniors
In the team race Hallamshire Harriers edged Leicester Coritanian AC by a mere six points with Mid Hants AC third.
