Cheltenham Racecourse, Cheltenham on Saturday 15/02/1992 4.71 Km (Junior Ladies)

The Junior Women's National Cross-Country Championships took place in the picturesque surroundings of Cheltenham Racecourse. The age-group races were brought in line with the World Cross-Country Championships.

Sharon Murphy (Shaftesbury Barnet Harriers) took an early lead only Paula Radcliffe (Bedford & County AC) reacted and after half a mile these two were clear of the large field. Kerry MacKay also of Shaftesbury Barnet Harriers was clear in third.

After one-and-a-half miles Radcliffe edged in front and steadily increased her lead to win by 16 seconds in 16:11. Murphy was second and MacKay third.

Radcliffe completed the double leading the Bedford club to victory in the team race with a comprehensive 35-point victory over Shaftesbury Barnet Harriers. Sale Harries were a distant third. Other counters for Bedford were Claire Peet (9th), Michelle Matthews (12th) and Liz Talbot (25th).
