Roundhay Park on Saturday 14/03/1998 5 Km (Junior Ladies)

Roundhay Park, Leeds hosted the Junior Women's National Cross-Country Championships. The race was sponsored by View From and was broadcast on Sky Sports 1. The course was 5km.

Amy Waterlow (Sale Harriers) was to the fore after the first half mile. At the end of the opening lap Waterlow led from Jilly Ingman (Barnsley AC) and Victoria Wilkinson (Bingley Harriers) with Emma Brooker (Shaftesbury Barnet Harriers) close up. Waterlow maintained a lead of about 12 seconds for most of the lap holding off the two Yorkshire runners and Waterlow went on to win in 18:07. Wilkinson grabbed second with Ingman third making is a clean sweep in the individual race for the North. Waterlow told Athletics Weekly: "The under-17s made it fast at the start, once I got to the front I just ran as hard as I could."

Bristol AC finished 44 points clear of Sale Harriers to lift the team trophy, Charnwood AC were third.
