The fifty-first Junior Men's English Cross-Country Championships took place at Roundhay Park in Leeds. This was the fourth time the event had been hosted at Roundhay Park after visits in 1978, 1982 and 1990. Race highlights were shown the following day on Sky Sports. The race was sponsored by the sportswear company View From.
At the halfway point twins Allen and Andrew Graffin from Tonbridge AC, Karim Bouchamia (Highgate Harriers), Daniel Hyde (Swindon Harriers) and Northern champion Jason Ward (Hallamshire Harriers) were setting the pace. In the woods on the second lap Bouchamia took the lead but over the next half mile was overtaken by the Graffin twins. Andrew went on to win by 5 seconds from Allen with Bouchamia third.
