Newark Showgrounds hosted the fifty-second Junior Men's English National Cross-Country Championships. Sports Company View From once again sponsored the event.
At the halfway stage Sam Haughian (Borough of Hounslow AC) had established a 30-second lead, in pursuit were Matt Dixon (Sale Harriers), Northern title winner Jason Ward (Hallamshire Harriers), Midland champion Ollie Laws (Telford AC) and Mark Brown (Morpeth Harriers). Haughian continued to increase his lead on the second lap and the race for gold looked over. In the battle for the other medals, Ward was in second place with Andrew Beckwith (Invicta East Kent) closing the gap on Ward. Haughian won by 94 seconds and the tiring Ward hung on for second and Beckwith won bronze.
