Maiden Castle, Durham on Saturday 24/02/2001 5 Km (Under 17 Women)

Maiden Castle in Durham hosted the Under 17 Women's English National Cross-Country Championships. View From sponsored the event and 134 completed the race. The 5k course consisted of a mixture of fast playing fields, challenging hills and had some great views.

Faye Fullerton (Havering AC) beat C Wilkinson (Shaftesbury Barnet Harriers) by 16 seconds for the individual title. As the under 20 and under 17 race was combined, Fullerton did not get the satisfaction of crossing the line first. Fullerton told Athletics Weekly "This is the best win I've ever had, I usually finish second or third."

Team honours went to Sale Harriers who packed four in the first 27. Runners up were Aldershot, Farnham & District AC with Royal Sutton Coldfield AC third.
