The fifty-seventh Youth's English National Cross-Country took place for the first time as Aston Gate Estate, Bristol. The race was sponsored by View From. The youth's course was 6km and was mostly flat but contained some uphill and downhill sections.
Midland champion Tom Humphries (Cannock & Stafford AC) was the early pace setter and at the half mile mark Humphries led with Ryan McLeod (Elswick Harriers), Oliver Freeman (Invicta East Kent AC) and Tom Lancashire (Bolton United Harriers) giving chase. Humphries continued to dominate the race and won by six seconds from McLeod with Freeman third and Lancashire fourth.
Humphries told Athletics Weekly: "I was really pleased with the way I kept my form today, I always intended to take it up from the start and burn them all off. I felt tired in the middle but I came through and finished strongly."
