The English National Cross-Country Championships returned to Parliament Hill Fields after a gap of 10 years. This was the fifty-eighth running of the youth's race and the event was sponsored by shoe company Saucony.
Keith Gerrard (Manx Harriers) led for much of the race but could not hold off the challenge from Olly Freeman (Invicta East Kent AC) who won by four seconds. Gerrard and Matt Barnes-Smith (Ipswich Harriers & AC) dived over the line together with Gerrard just edging Barnes-Smith for silver.
