Saucony sponsored the Junior Women's National Cross-Country Championships at Cofton Park in Birmingham. The course was 4.8km of undulating parkland and was expected to be a good test for cross-country runners.

Laura Kenney (Royal Sutton Coldfield AC) won by seven seconds from Jenny Pereira (Medway & Maidstone AC). Kenney was stronger over the final half mile to prove too quick for Pereira with Claire Holme (Ipswich Harriers) third.

Laura Kenney told Athletics Weekly: "I didn't know when to hit the front in the race because my confidence is a bit low. But the past month or so my training has gone really well. Today has given me a lot of confidence."

The team title went to Aldershot, Farnham & District AC who were 13 points clear of Shaftesbury Barney Harriers. Third place went to Sale Harriers. Aldershot were led home by Emily Adams in 18th, other counters were Alice Lethbridge (31st), G Furze (41st) and S Pickett (42nd).
