The English National Cross-Country Championships returned to Parliament Hill Fields in London for the sixty-second edition of the junior men's race. Saucony were once again the race sponsors. The course was 10km in length.
Nick Goolab (Belgrave Harriers) won the individual race in 34:09, this was 18 seconds clear of runner-up Ben Hunter (Southend Harriers) with Ronnie Sparke (Woodford Green & Essex Ladies) third.
Goolab told Athletics Weekly: "I've been doing the National since I was about 12 years old and used to finish in the 80s and 100s and I remember watching the junior men's race and wondering what it'd be like to win. The crowd support during the race was incredible. At the end of the first lap I still felt fresh, but I thought it would be best to stay patient. And when I hit the flatter, firmer parts of the course I pushed on."
