The Under 13 Girl's English National Cross-Country Championships were held at Roundhay Park in Leeds. The course had not been used for 12 years after repairs were required to the Victorian drainage system.
Hope Goddard (Bracknell AC) won the individual title by four seconds from Bethany Donnelly (East Cheshire Harriers & Tameside AC). Third place went to Bella Croft (Windsor, Slough, Eton, & Hounslow AC).
Goddard told Athletics Weekly: "I was in about 150th at the start, but I didn't panic and I just tried to overtake runners until there was no one left."
