The Junior Women's National Cross-Country Championships returned to Alton Towers after a visit in 2008. Saucony continued their sponsorship of the event. The course was shortened on the day due to the extremely muddy conditions.

Charlotte Purdue (Aldershot, Farnham & District AC) completed an eleven second victory over Hannah Walker (Dacorum & Tring AC) slowly moving away from Walker as the race unfolded. Third place went to Louise Small (Aldershot, Farnham & District AC).

Junior Women's race winner Charlie Purdue (Aldershot, Farnham & District AC)

Purdue told Athletics Weekly: "I didn't really need to push away any more as those were tough conditions. I just wanted to finish and win the race. I always wanted to do the National as I hadn't won it as a junior."

Aldershot, Farnham & District AC won the team race with a meagre 8 points, a huge 67 points clear of runners up Birchfield Harriers. Third place was won by Bristol & West AC. Aldershot's third counter was Beth Carter in fourth place, this was the first year that 3 counters were used for the junior women's team race.
