The sixty-fifth Junior Men's English National Cross Country took place at Parliament Hill Fields, Hampstead Heath and was sponsored by Saucony.
Midland champion Charlie Maclean (Bristol & West AC) was first to the top of Kite Hill. At the start of the second lap Maclean was still in front with Paul Thompson (Birmingham RA & TC) and Jonny Hay (Aldershot, Farnham & District AC) in pursuit. Into the last mile Thompson led from Hay who was 40 metres clear of Maclean. Hay was unstoppable over the last mile and won by 100 metres. Runner up was Harvey Dixon (Aldershot, Farnham & District AC) with Maclean third.
Hay told Athletics Weekly: "The training and racing has gone really well this year and I was really confident, and the plan was to just sit in and then in the last 2km I increased the pace and Paul drifted back."
