The Under 17 Women's English National Cross-Country Championships took place at Parliament Hill Fields, Hampstead Heath.
As the London Olympics were due to take place in 2012 the ECCA decided that Parliament Hill Fields would be an appropriate venue for the event and ECCA secretary Ian Byett said: The City of London were keen to put it on and the staff and management at Parliament Hill always give tip-top cooperation in staging the event."
Early leader Jess Judd (Chelsmford AC) was caught and passed by the eventual winner, Becky Straw (Cannock & Stafford AC), in the last half mile. Straw also managed to hold off the challenge of Alex Clay (Invicta East Kent AC) to win by 1 second from Clay with Judd third.
Straw told Jason Henderson at Athletics Weekly "My coach told me to believe in myself in the last 600 metres or so, I thought I had a good chance. I was in the right place, so I just went for it."
