Parliament Hill Fields, Hampstead Heath was once again the setting for the English National Cross-Country Championships. This was the sixty-eighth running of the Junior Men's race. The course was two laps and totalled 10k.
At the end of the first lap Jonathan Davies (Reading AC) led by 10 metres from Abel Tsegay (Invicta East Kent AC) with Max Nicholls (Tonbridge AC) leading the chasing group. Davies increased his lead over the lap to win by 29 seconds. Tsegay picked up the silver medal with Joe Steward (East Cheshire Harriers & Tameside AC) the bronze.
Davies told Athletics Weekly: "I started a bit slow and then there was a big group. Eventually I got a metre or two and it stayed at five to ten metres for half a lap or so. I knew that if I then pushed it I could get away."
