Parliament Hill Fields, Hampstead Heath was once again the setting for the English National Cross-Country Championships. This was the seventieth running of the Youth's race.
Mahamed Mahamed (Southampton AAC) won the individual race by the large margin of 48 seconds after dominating the race. By contrast the battle for minor medals was very close with James Gormley (City Of Sheffield AC) just managing to hold off an attack by Alex Yee (Kent AC).
Mahamed told Athletics Weekly: "When we started me and Alex Yee were leading but I then took it up the big hill on the second lap and then I didn't look back."
