The Under 15 Girl's English National Cross-Country Championships took place at Donington Park in Derbyshire. This was the first time that the venue had been used for the 'National'. The race was 12km in length and consisted of three laps plus the start and finish straights. Local farmers made their land available for the race and one of radish fields had a section turned over to allow the runners to pass through!
Southern champion Josie Czura (City of Portsmouth AC) and Alex Brown (Herne Hill Harriers) battled at the front of the field, Czura pulled away to win by ten seconds. Brown was second and Olivia Mason (Border Harriers) third.
Czura told Athletics Weekly: "It was a very hard course. When I pushed on, Alex came with me and I had to work hard to get away but it was really good to win my first National."
