The Junior Women's Cross-Country Championships took place at Parliament Hill, Hampstead Heath, London. 9569 entries were received for the event and Saucony continued their sponsorship of the event.
Harriet Knowles-Jones (Warrington AC) and Niamh Brown (Aldershot, Farnham & District AC) led on the first smaller lap but went off course but managed to loop back to the correct route. On the second larger lap Knowles-Jones broke away and left Brown a long way behind as she won in 24:07 a full 60 seconds clear of runner-up Brown with Scarlet Dale (Lancaster & Morecambe AC) third.
Knowles-Jones became the first junior lady to win the individual event three times and told Athletics Weekly: "It's a great way to end my junior career. It was a bit of shock when I realised we'd gone off course and I had a chat with Niamh and it worked out okay. I really pushed that second lap and felt strong."
