Parliament Hill Fields in Hampstead Heath London hosted the seventy-third Youth's English National Cross-Country Championships. The course was 6km in length and consisted of one small lap and one medium lap plus the start and finish straights. Once again Saucony sponsored the race.
David Stone (Shaftesbury Barnet Harriers) and Lachlan Wellington (Portsmouth AC) battled throughout the race with Stone just outkicking Lachaln at the finish. The bronze medal went to Tom Keen (Cambridge & Coleridge AC).
Stone told Athletics Weekly: "I was expecting to finish quite highly - and top 10 would have been really nice in the run-up to the English Schools, but to win it was amazing. After the first small lap I went to the front with Laughlan and then toward the end kicked on to win as we came into the final straight."
