The seventy-third Junior Men's English National Cross-Country Championships took place at Wollaton Park, Nottingham. This was the third time Wollaton Park had been used for the National after visits in 2014 and 2017. The race was one small lap and two large laps making a total of 10km. Saucony were the title sponsors, a relationship with the English Cross-Country Association that went back a decade.
At the midpoint of the race Sam Moakes (Sutton-in-Ashfield Harriers) led Midland champion Joshua Lay (Rugby & Northampton AC), Zak Mahamed (Southampton AC), Jeremy Dempsey (Shaftesbury Barnet Harriers) and Josh Cowperthwaite (Middlesbrough AC). In the second half of the race Mahamed moved to the front and was chased by Lay. Mahamed went on to win by 40 metres from Lay with Moakes third.
Mahamed told Athletics Weekly: "It was a bit muddy but I wanted to go in front and work hard. I've been waiting for this [a National title] since I ran in the under-13 race."
