The sixth Youth's National Cross Country Championship took place at Richmond Racecourse in Yorkshire. Admission was 1/6 and the programme 6d. The course was two laps of 1½ miles.


Ivor Williams (Salford Harriers) retained his individual title in some style, Williams covered the three miles in 16:04. 11 seconds behind was P Hedley (Sheffield United Harriers) with Basil Heatley (Coventry Godiva Harriers) third.


In the team race Sheffield United Harriers won by the large margin of 48 points from Longwood Harriers. Bronze medals went to Tipton Harriers.
