The eighth Junior English Cross-Country Championships took place at RAF Cardington in Bedfordshire. The course was described as bona fide 'country' and consisted of rough grass land, cattle trodden gateways, paths stubble, grass verge and plough.
The Scottish junior champion Jack McLaren (Shotts Miners Welfare AC) and R G Beecroft (Clayton Le Moors Harriers) ran together for the first half of the race. McLaren was took strong for Beecroft on the second lap and won over the 6 mile course in 35:18. Beecroft held on for second with Ben Grubb (Sheffield United Harriers) third.
