The Intermediate Women's National Cross-Country Championships took place at Carlisle Racecourse. Defending champion Alison Hollington (Bournemouth AC) moved away from the field at the halfway point and only Lynne MacDougall (Glasgow AC) managed to cover the break. Alison Hollington went on to win in 13:02, 8 seconds clear of MacDougall. Southern champion Sonia Vinall (Brighton & Hove AC) outsprinted a tiring Julie Rose (Ashford AC) for third.
