The Junior Women's English Cross-Country Championships took place at Wollaton Park in Nottingham. The venue was used many times for the Inter-Counties Cross Country Championships, but this was the first time for the 'National'. The 6km course was undulating and consisted of rough grass and parkland.
Defending champion Emelia Gorecka (Aldershot, Farnham & District AC) pulled out on the eve of the race with illness. Georgia Taylor-Brown (Sale Harriers) went straight to the front and continued to extend her lead throughout the race winning in 21:03, this was 48 seconds clear of runner-up Amy Griffiths (Aldershot, Farnham & District AC) with Grace Baker, also Aldershot, a further 7 seconds behind in third.
Taylor-Brown told Athletics Weekly: "The plan was to go out hard and not get in trouble with anyone falling over as the ground was dodgy. But when no one was with me, I was like, maybe I didn't need to go out that hard! But when you're running on your own, it's easy to get into your own rhythm so I kept ploughing on."
